Iris I. Seyb, 87, of Hutchinson, died March 3, 2012, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Iris was born Nov. 15, 1924, at Nickerson, the daughter of David G. and Rose Freeman Frazer.
She attended school in Colby, and graduated from high school at Syracuse, Kan. She later received her teaching certificate and taught elementary school for two years. Iris and her husband lived for several years in Johnson, and later Leoti, prior to moving to Hutchinson in 1969. She worked at Collingwood Grain, and later worked at Security, Inc., in Hutchinson. After her husband died, she again worked at Collingwood Grain, managing the fertilizer accounts for branch elevators around Hutchinson. Iris was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was very active. She was a former member of the Cosmos Club at Johnson.
Iris married Marion C. Seyb on June 10, 1945, at Syracuse, Kan. He died Feb. 20, 1979.
Survivors include: three daughters, Marilyn Thies of Midwest City, Okla., Margaret Peirce and her husband Jim of Winfield, and Martha Mitchell and husband Rod of Berwyn, Pa.; a brother, Don Frazer of Syracuse; three granddaughters, Heather Thies of Winter Garden, Fla., Jenny Geib of Edmond, Okla., and Molly Kyler of Ponca City, Okla.; five step grandchildren, Tom Peirce, Jeannie Schmidt, Terri McDaniel, Taylor Mitchell, and Paige Mitchell; three great-grandsons, Bo Kyler, Maxwell Geib, and Nolan Geib; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Kyler. Iris was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ivel Frazer and Clarence Frazer.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, with Reverend Mark Conard presiding. Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery at Pretty Prairie. A register book may be signed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday, with the family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed.
