Alan J. "Al" Wendler's Obituary
Alan J. "Al" Wendler, 60, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 17, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson.
He was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Hays, the son of Anthony "Tony" and Genevieve Stoecklein Wendler.
He graduated from Ness City High School in 1968 and attended Emporia State University. He was parts manager at Midwest Superstore, Ford & Toyota in Hutchinson. He was a member of The Church of The Holy Cross in Hutchinson.
He married Marietta Giessel on Aug. 25, 1972, in Ness City. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Aaron Wendler and his wife Jill, and Mark Wendler, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Alicia Wendler, Ph.D., Lawrence; a sister, Lora Olivier and husband Bob, Great Bend; his mother, Genevieve Wendler, Great Bend; and four grandchildren, Dason, Will, Evan and Jules.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Susan Wendler.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at The Church of The Holy Cross, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. A private family inurnment service will be Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ness City.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
