Obituary

Alan Keith Graber, 30, died May 24, 2006, at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1976, in Hutchinson, the son of Curtis L. and Jean M. Harris Graber. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1994, received an associate's degree in fire science from Hutchinson Community College, and attended Bethany College, Lindsborg. He was enrolled to complete his education this fall at Wichita State University. A lifetime Hutchinson and Pretty Prairie resident, he was a certified E.M.T.I.D., had worked at Hutchinson Hospital, and had been on staff at Trinity United Methodist Church for the last two years.

He belonged to the Reno County Medical Reserve Corps, for five years sang the "Messiah" musical program at Bethany College, and was a volunteer on the Pretty Prairie EMS.

Survivors include: his parents, Curtis L. and Jean Graber, Pretty Prairie; a stepbrother, Ron and his wife, Debbie, Haven; a stepsister, Debbie Adams and her husband, Dennis, Nickerson; uncles and aunts, Sue Harris and Ron Pulsifer, Canton, Mass., and Kenton and Tina Graber, Munising, Mich.; a nephew, Travis Graber; and three nieces, Taylor Graber, Lindsay Graber and Carly Adams.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Marie Graber, formerly of Pretty Prairie; and Eugene and Velma Harris, formerly of Meade.

Orthodox funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father James Shadid presiding. A second funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nick Warner and Jane Siebert presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. The casket will be closed. The family will receive friends following the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie.

Memorials may be sent to the Pretty Prairie Emergency Medical Services Fund to the Messiah Endowment Fund at Bethany College, both in care of the funeral home.
