Albert R. Negherbon, 86, died Jan. 27, 2006, at Harry Hynes Hospice, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Shamokin, Pa., the son of Jacob and Julia Sandri Negherbon. He graduated from Coal Township High School, Shamokin, Pa. A resident of Hutchinson for 46 years, moving from Salina, he retired from Kansas Oxygen in 1984.
He belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982, St. Teresa's Men's Club and Finance Council and the Trinity High School school board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant with the 319th Engineers Battalion.
On May 28, 1946, he married Rita A. Lawrence in Salina. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Joseph, Belleview, Fla.; three daughters, Julia Hulsey, Lynnwood, Wash., Nancy Negherbon, Albuquerque, N.M., and Doris Smith, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Father Vincent Negherbon, Loretto, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and John Negherbon; and a sister, Catherine Yost.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Stuart M. Smeltzer presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
