Albert W. "Al" West, 85, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born December 29, 1923, at Richards, Missouri, to Charles Edgar and Elnora Jane Roberts West.

He belonged to Riverside Baptist Church.

He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and then A.D. Rayl Motor Company for 28 years, retiring 1988.

On August 7, 1943, he married Virginia F. DeWater at Yates Center. She survives. Other survivors include: their children, Sheryl McMillan, Brighton, Colorado, Everett and Leland West, both of Wichita, Juanita Lowry, Ricky West and Brenda West, all of Hutchinson. Two sisters, Jenny, Wyoming, and Bertha Brown, Wellington. 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Gladys, 2 brothers, Homer and Roy, 2 sisters, Myrtle Demott and Elizabeth Bryant.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Richard Haley and Betty Pinkston presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with family present 6 to 7 p.m. all at Elliott Mortuary.
