Obituary

Alfonzo L. "Al" Cauley, 73, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center. He was born Oct. 23, 1937, in Wichita, the son of Amos and Cecil Thomas Cauley, Sr. Al was a longtime Hutchinson resident, a Buhler and Hutchinson Community College graduate, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, former member of NAACP, an Army veteran and Army Reserve, and a machinist at Cessna with 35 years of service, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he was owner of Treasure Island Auction Service.

On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Phyllis M. Graham at Ft. Scott. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Wes and his wife Lea, Hutchinson; two daughters, Margaret Cauley, Juneau, Alaska, and Leigh Cauley Lloyd, Wichita; a sister, Juanita Goodman and husband Timothy, Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, JoAnna Cauley, and five brothers, Amos Jr., Melvin, Dwayne, Leroy and an infant brother, and two sisters, Faith Rich and Alberta Cauley.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Rev. William J. Green officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment in Fairlawn Burial Park at a later date. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory.
