Obituary

Alfred Austen Colburn, 94, died April 10, 2006, at Good Samaritan Village.

He was born July 5, 1911, in Terlton, Okla., the son of Charles Dee and Nanny V. Haws Colburn. He graduated from Terlton High School in 1929 and attended Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater, for two years. A Hutchinson resident since 1992, formerly of Roosevelt, Ariz., he was a refrigeration mechanic for J.S. Dillons and Sons, Hutchinson, from 1946 to 1954. He retired in 1974 as vice president of Central Mechanical Construction Co., Denver.

He was a past Master Mason with membership in the Idaho Springs, Colo., Lodge No. 26, and was life member of the Wichita Scottish Rite and Midian Shrine Temple.

On June 18, 1932, he married Hilda B. Roberts in Terlton. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Alva, Tonasket, Wash., Wayne, Hutchinson, and Charles, Atlanta, Ks.; a daughter, Judy Sisk, Arvada, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was the oldest of his siblings and was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Robert, Mark and Earl; a sister, Mary Campbell; and a great-grandson, Phillip Kent Colburn.

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held in Terlton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
