Alice L. Kirk, 89, of Hutchinson, died Nov. 5, 2011, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
She was born Dec. 9, 1921, near Inman, the daughter of Frank W. and Elizabeth Regehr Kroeker.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1939 and Adela Hale Business College. Alice worked as a bookkeeper at Kress' Department Store, and later as the office manager for Kirk Bros. Trucks, and was the secretary at Roosevelt School. She retired after many years as the Accounts Payable Clerk for USD #308 Board of Education. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and the Hutchinson Hospital Foundation. Alice had served in the state office of the P.T.A., and had been a precinct chairman for the Democratic Party. She was an avid bridge player.
Alice married Robert A. Kirk on June 27, 1944, in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 23, 1980.
Survivors include: a son, Robert A. Kirk Jr. and his wife Jayne of Alpine, Wyo.; a daughter, Marsha Holl of Valley Center; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dena Mae Bidstrup; a granddaughter, Erin Holl; and son-in-law, Bob Holl.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
