Obituary

Alta May Bleything, 82, died Jan. 16, 2007, at Hospice House.

She was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Lake City, the daughter of Albert and Alma Vanderplas Shmidl. She graduated from Lake City High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to First Christian Church, T.O.P.S., Phi Beta Thi sorority and was past president of the EHU Prosperity.

On June 10, 1946, she married George A. "Al" Bleything in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 18, 1997.

Survivors include: three sons, George and wife, Ann, Edmond, Okla., Kevin and wife, Sally, and Matt and wife, Jamie, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Teresa May and husband, Gail, Hutchinson; a brother, Forrest Shmidl, Medicine Lodge; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Rick Goertzen presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
