Alta M. Rice's Obituary
Alta Marie Rice, 89, died Nov. 28, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Harper, to Guy and LuLu Hostetler Klinglesmith.
She graduated from Attica High School in 1938. She worked at Hutch Floral for 15 years, and also at Caldwell Florists.
Alta was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was very active in crocheting and quilting for the church. She was also an avid gardener.
On Sept. 20, 1944, she married Howard Lowell Rice in Hutchinson. He died Dec. 8, 1988. Survivors include: two sisters, Susie Louellen "Lou" Smith, Marysville, KS, and Mildred Irene Stuart, Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Franklin Klinglesmith.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday Dec. 3, 2009, in Fairlawn Burial Park with Pastor Gary D. Getting officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
