Alta Mae Slater, 93, of Hutchinson, died November 27, 2019, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.  She was born July 10, 1926, in Vassar, KS, to Russell and Gladys (Myrick) Simmons.

Alta graduated from Topeka High School in 1944.  On January 29, 1950, she married Loren Kenneth Slater in Topeka.  They shared over 64 years of marriage until his death on June 15, 2014.  When Alta was not busy with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed playing golf, doing needlework, and reading.  Alta was a longtime member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

She is survived by: daughter, Lorna (Terry) Moore of Hutchinson; son, Daryl (Sheila) Slater of Tulsa, OK; granddaughters, Lori (Andrew) Becker, Julie (Bill) Montandon, Janelle Anderson, Jennifer Stuart, and Erin (Brandon) Ruiz; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Alta was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband, Loren K. Slater; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.  No services are planned, per Alta's request.
