Alvine "Nicky" Johnson, 84, died March 2, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Pollard, the daughter of Elmer and Nora Buckbee Nickel. She was raised in the Pollard-Lyons area. A resident of Hutchinson since the mid 1970s, moving from McPherson, she had worked for A.C. Fink Tire Co., McPherson, in the 1940s. Then she and her husband owned Cee Jay Co., McPherson, 1954 to 1975. She was Director of Human Resources for Collingwood Grain/ADM, retiring in 2001.
She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi, both at McPherson. She had been the recipient of the Bravo Award for the Community Improvement Commission from the city of Hutchinson on numerous occasions.
On Feb. 14, 1940, she married D.L. Johnson in McPherson. He died Sept. 22, 1977.
Survivors include: a son, Rick and his wife Kay, Ozark, Mo.; two daughters, Deb Wiggins and her husband Duke, Hutchinson, and Pam Martinson and her husband Glenn, McPherson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in McPherson City Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Keil presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
