Obituary

Alyssa Merrill Mills, 58, died unexpectedly May 2, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1967, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to William Merrill Mills III and Alice (Cash) Mills.

Alyssa graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1987, where she was an active member of the swim team, loved her friends, and was a proud Salthawk. She had a creative and joyful spirit, enjoying drawing, making latch hook projects, and putting together puzzles. Alyssa also loved participating in programs at the YMCA, especially swimming. An avid walker, she especially enjoyed getting out, visiting with others, and socializing. Time spent with her family meant everything to her, and she always looked forward to visits from her brothers and sister.

Alyssa had been a resident of TECH since 1989, where she was cared for by many dedicated individuals and formed lasting connections over the years.

She is survived by her loving and devoted siblings: Hilary Lindsey (Troy) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Bill Mills of Austin, Texas; and James Mills (Molly) of Denver, Colorado; her nieces Nathalie Lindsey (Theodore Dentinger), Allabelle Lindsey, Claire Lindsey, Eleanor Lindsey, Finley Mills, Lucy Mills, and Anna James Mills; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Bill Mills.

Alyssa gave the gift of life to others through organ donation.

A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Dillon Nature Center Community Room, 3002 East 30th Avenue, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The YMCA of Hutchinson and Reno County, The Clayworks (to benefit the Midtown Gallery), or Autism Speaks, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
