Obituary

Ambrose Grady "Jim" Bare, 84, of Hutchinson, loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Feb. 28, 2017, at Buhler Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. He was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Jefferson, NC, to Ambrose P. and Lena Bare. Jim was stationed in Hutchinson in 1951 where he met Peggy "Carol" Marshall and was married on May 9, 1953. She passed away on April 27, 2010. He was a past member of First Southern Baptist Church. Jim was an avid golfer, poker player, and loved his KC Chiefs and KU Jayhawks basketball. He also loved being outdoors. Jim always planted a garden every year.

He worked for Winchesters Packing Co. from 1953-1986 when they closed. He also worked for over 20 years delivering ambulances all over the U.S. The last 7 working years, he was with RCAT. He always enjoyed helping people.

Jim is survived by: daughter, Erron Janzen; son, Dale and wife Karen; grandchildren, Shelby Day and husband Brian, Grady Bare; great-grandchildren, Brett Estrella, Logan Day, Riley Day, all of Hutchinson; and sisters, Grace Coldiron and Irene Sheets.

He was preceded in death by: parents; wife; son, Mark; and seven siblings.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Bob Phipps officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice or Alzheimer's Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
