Angela Diann Scott, 35, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at St. Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo. She was born March 29, 1980, at Vanga sur Kwilu, Zaire, Africa, to John W. and Susan E. (Pankratz) Scott.
Angela graduated from Central Christian High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. She worked as a CMA in the health care industry at Larned State Hospital, Elm Grove Estates, and was working toward her nursing degree. In 2012, Angela was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was placed on the heart transplant list. On Jan. 21, 2013, Angela received her new heart from Stephen Lance.
Angela is survived by: her parents, John and Susan Scott of Hutchinson; her children, Melody and Jonathan Willis of Hutchinson; sister, Robin Berrey (Kendal) of Paola; brother, Aaron Scott (Debbie) of Olathe; two nieces; her aunt and uncle, Sharon and Jerry Wheaten of Harrison, Ark.; fiance, Joel Harmon of Hutchinson; and Joel's parents, Steve and Sharon Harmon of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Chester and Dolores Scott and George and Elizabeth Pankratz.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ron Kyker officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
