Obituary

Ann Marie Adams, 87, died August 15, 2026, at The Wesley – Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born June 23, 1939, in Longmont, CO, to James F.S. and Florence (Myers) Wees.

Ann grew up in Joplin, MO, and graduated from Joplin High School in 1957. She attended Monticello College and the University of Kansas, graduating in 1961. Ann was active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at KU and remained close friends with many of her sorority sisters. She enjoyed volunteering at the Cosmosphere for over 25 years and the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary. Ann liked to play golf and bridge, read, and travel to many parts of the country; especially Colorado and Arizona with her husband and children as well as many trips with her brothers and their spouses. She was involved in the local P.E.O Chapter BL, Hutchinson. Ann was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson and was active in the church’s Altar Guild.

After meeting at the University of Kansas, she married Donald D. “Don” Adams, at Village Presbyterian, Prairie Village, KS, on September 1, 1962. They shared over 63 years of marriage, prior to his death on May 17, 2026.

Ann is survived by: her children, Allison (Scott Bendrick) Adams of Overland Park, and Scott (Lisa) Adams of Gower, MO; granddaughters, Jonna, Tulia and Cheyenne; grandsons, Noah and Austin; brother, William “Bill” Wees of Montreal, Canada; sister-in-law, Beth Wees of New York, NY; as well as a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; brother, J. Dustin Wees; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Wees.

Memorial service for Don and Ann Adams, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Dr, Hutchinson, with Father Ted Blakely officiating. Following the service, a cookie reception will be held at the church for family to greet friends. Private family inurnment will take place in the Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium. Friends may sign their book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Wednesday, until the day of the service at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
