Anna Louise Coberly, 99, died Aug. 27, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born March 17, 1907, in Comanche County, the daughter of Carsten and Caroline Schenk Nickelson. She graduated from Wilmore High School in 1928 and attended Hays College in the summers of 1929 to 1931. A resident of Hutchinson since 1948, she taught school for five years, was an in-home care provider for the elderly and then worked for Boeing, obtaining the rating of inspector. Along with her husband, she operated and maintained a peanut and gumball machine route throughout parts of Kansas.
She belonged to Bethany Church of the Nazarene.
On Feb. 14, 1948, she married Russell E. Coberly. He died May 15, 1973.
Survivors include: Four nephews, Chester Nickelson, Valley Center, W. F. Nickelson, Omaha, Neb., Merle Nickelson, Guymon, Okla. and Robert Wayne Downing, Aiken, South Carolina; a niece, Velma Kenney, Lee's Summit, Mo.; and caregivers, Richard and Imogene Hall, Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Charles, William, John and Frank Nickelson; and three sisters, Emma Purkey, Lena House and Mary Downing.
Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Fort Scott National Cemetery, with Pastor Scott Moore presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
