Anne V. Phillips, 88, died Dec. 12, 2006 at her home in Sterling.
She was born May 31, 1918, in Malmo, Sweden, the daughter of Malta and Kristina Pearsson Benzow. She moved to the United States from Sweden as a young girl. She had been a resident of Hatboro, PA for more than 60 years before moving to Sterling. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had hosted several foreign exchange students with her family.
She was a lifelong and founding member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hatboro, PA, where she was also a Sunday school teacher. She was also a longtime
devoted volunteer to various children's homes and hospitals.
On July 7, 1940 she married William J. Phillips, Sr. at Brooklyn, NY. He died June 23, 1993
Survivors include: a son, William J., Jr., Collegeville, PA; a daughter Lynn Landis, Sterling; two sisters, Signe Sandin, Newfoundland, NJ and Gertrude Chesena, Hollywood, FL; grandchildren Dawn Wilcox, David Landis, Jr., Debbie Wade, Spencer Phillips, Jordan Phillips, Kim May, Justin Phillips and Jessica Phillips; she was also the proud great grandmother of Emmi, Liza, Marin, Anna, Bekah, Chelsi, Emmlie, Lizzi, Abbi, Joshua, Jacob, Zeke, Lydia and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Signe Potter; a brother and two sisters.
Memorial service will be a 7 p.m. Friday at Christ's Bible Church, Nickerson with Pastor David Landis presiding. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hatboro, PA. There will be no local visitation. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
