Obituary

Anthony Robert Schubert, 90, died August 12, 2009 at Promise Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 24, 1918 in Lagmond, Ks, the son of Anthony and Nora Pohl Schubert.
He grew up in Hutchinson and after graduating from Hutchinson High School went to the US Naval Academy on a full scholarship. He was stationed aboard the USS Arizona and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was later transferred to the South Dakota where he received an award for shooting down 33 Japanese aircraft in a single engagement. He returned to Hutchinson after retiring from the oil fields in Saudi Arabia in 1970.
Memorial graveside service will be 10:30 am Monday Sept. 21, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside honors conducted by the US Naval Honor Guard. Elliott Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
