Obituary

Arley Ray Philbrick, 69, of Hutchinson, died May 19, 2026, at his home. He was born June 30, 1956, in Hutchinson, to Ellsworth Edward and Lorene Rose (Glenn) Philbrick.

Arley graduated from Nickerson High School in 1975 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a welder/fabricator for Marlen Research and then Jacam Petrochemicals for many years before retiring. Arley loved fishing, hunting and skeet shooting, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and dog, Tucker. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

On June 20, 1980, Arley married Rhonda M. Schadler, in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 46 years of marriage before his passing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda of the home; children, Malcolm Philbrick (Amy), Heather Philbrick, Dakota Philbrick (Taylor), Brecken Philbrick (Landon Jones), Zoe Hendrix (Caden), all of Hutchinson, SunShine Willis of Nickerson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; niece, Carrie Philbrick of Wichita, mother-in-law, Doris Schadler-Clark of South Hutchinson; sisters-in-law, Nancy Thomas of Kechi, Melanie Hefton of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Melvin Schadler (Donna) of Sterling; and many extended family members.

Arley was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Paul “Pete” Philbrick, sister, Linda Williams, granddaughter, Jaedyn Douglas; sister-in-law, Sue Philbrick; brothers-in-law, Stan Williams, Don Thomas; and nephews, Troy Philbrick and Dustin Thomas.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed here: https://www.wbchutch.com/

Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
