Obituary

Arlie E. Simpson, 97, died November 28, 2012, at Hospice House. He was born April 18, 1915, in Long Run, MO, to Joseph S. and Josie M. Rowland Simpson.

He worked as a flour miller for Kelly Milling Company and a machine operator for Carey Salt Company. He was a member of the International Association of Grain Millers Local 94, United Steelworkers of America Local 12458, and 3-C Camp. Arlie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was an honorary trustee serving for many years.

On August 9, 1937, he married Viola Virginia Fleming in Coldwater, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1998.

Survivors include: children, Lloyd E. Simpson of Hutchinson, Millie Hastings of Derby, Eugene A. Simpson of Olivehurst, CA; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arlie was preceded in death by: his parents, sisters, Leona M., and Myrtle L., brother, Lloyd William, son-in-law, John H. Hastings, grandson, William Lloyd Simpson, and great-granddaughter, Taylor Heersche.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 East Fourth, Hutchinson, with Pastor Harold E. Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be made to Taylor Heersche Cancer Fund, in care of Carson Bank, Mulvane, KS, or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, in care of the mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
