Awilda Jean McEachern, 88, died May 2, 2009, at Broomfield Skilled Nursing Center, Broomfield, Colo.
She was born May 2, 1921, in Abbyville, the daughter of Daniel L. and Alma E. Knoche Zollars. She was a homemaker, teacher and artist.
While in Hutchinson, she belonged to Crossroads Christian Church.
On Aug. 5, 1949, she married Charles Blayne McEachern in Hutchinson. He died April 1, 1991. She and her husband moved to Hutchinson in 1984, from Hugoton, and she moved to Colorado in 1992, following his death.
Survivors include: sons, Kevin, Westminster, Colo., and Kim, Centennial, Colo.; daughters, MyCherie McEachern, Savannah, Mo., and Melynn Murphy, Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Vernon Zollars, Dodge City; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alynne Zimmerman, and three brothers, Marshall, Eldon and Daniel Zollars.
Graveside service will be at 10 Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Lee Keele presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
