Baby Roberto Jorge "R.J." Rojas was born prematurely at 23 weeks on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, to his parents, Jorge and Jennifer Rojas at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He weighed 1 pound, 8 ounces and was 12 inches long.
After 37 short days here on Earth, Roberto died peacefully in his loving parents' arms, while in the NICU. Our little warrior struggled daily and his endeavor ended with a surgery that he could not endure. Roberto passed gently into God's hands on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.
While Roberto was here, he experienced holding hands with his mama and papa, listening as they sang him songs and read him many books, was held close by his parents, given many hugs and kisses from his family, and was told "I Love You" an uncountable amount of times.
Roberto is deeply loved by his mama and papa, big sister Emma, his grandparents, great-grandparents, his aunts and uncles, his cousins, many friends of the family, and all of his NICU nurses.
Roberto will always remain his parents' precious baby and Emma's little brother, and they will hold him again in heaven one day. He was loved by all, will be missed by many, will never be forgotten, and will remain in our hearts forever.
Roberto is survived by his parents, Jorge and Jennifer Rojas and his big sister Emma Mae Rojas, who reside in Hutchinson, Kan. His paternal grandparents are Victor Rojas and Raquel Flores of Mexico; and maternal grandparents Mike and Carol Scheuerman of Garnett, Kan. His maternal great-grandparents are Aaron and Maxine Scheuerman of La Crosse, Kan., and Kenneth and Virginia Webb of Garnett, Kan.
