Barbara Jean Wilson, 60, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. She was born July 28, 1953, at Ft. Bragg, NC, the daughter of James and Mavis Hastings Kennedy.

She was a 1972 graduate of Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. Prior to being disabled, she was a finish carpenter working for Architectural Millwork and KIT Mobile Homes, McPherson. Some of Barbara's favorite pastimes included gardening, camping and fishing. On June 7, 1996, she married Harold Amos Wilson Jr. in McPherson. He survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Bill Ellington of Hutchinson, Chris Ellington of Costa Mesa, Calif., Patrick Cody Wilson of Hutchinson; her mother, Mavis of Inman; a sister, Debbie Brown of Hutchinson; a brother, Carl Hastings of Mississippi, three grandchildren, Alex Yott, Alexia Yott-Wilson and Sage Ellington; a great-granddaughter, Oliva. She was preceded in death by her father.

Barbara's wishes were to be cremated and no service be held for herself. Memorial gifts may be made in her name to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter or the American Diabetes Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
