Obituary

Barbara Amelia Macdonald, 85, died March 14, 2008, at her home, Hutchinson.

She was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the daughter of Robert J. and Jessie Lee Stremming Laubengayer. She was a graduate of Salina High School, Salina, and Pine Manor Junior College, Brookline, Mass. A resident of Hutchinson since 1956, moving from Salina, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to First Presbyterian Church. She was on the organizing committee of Hutchinson Environmental Group and the Folk Life Festival. She was a member of the Cow Creek Cleanup Project, a volunteer for Grace Hospital, and a sponsor for Sherman Girls Club. She was also a member of Wesley Towers Auxiliary, where she was a volunteer and member of Reading Is Fundamental program.

On Oct. 16, 1943, she married Peter McIntyre Macdonald in Port Huron, Mich. He died Sept. 13, 2001.

Survivors include: two daughters, Heather Smith and husband, Dr. Boyd E., Salina, and Janet Miller and husband, Phillip A., Kansas City, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Graham M. Smith, Alison M. Cuppia and husband, Andy, and Andrew M. Miller.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Laubengayer and a sister, Betty Dieter.

Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tim Soule presiding. The register book will be available at the time of the service. Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will be held in Gypsum Hills Cemetery, Salina.
