Barbara Ann Morris, 85, of Hutchinson, died October 12, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. She was born January 12, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Viron and Charlotte (Rampenthal) Rucker.

Barbara graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1957. Then, she attended Sterling College and graduated summa cum laude in 1974. Barbara went on to obtain her master's in reading at Wichita State University. With all the knowledge she acquired, Barbara went on to teach many generations of first graders, beginning at Elreka Grade School and then later retired from Buhler Grade School.

She loved to square dance and was a proud member of the American Legion Axillary, which she joined with her late husband.

On May 24, 1958, Barbara married James W. Morris in Hutchinson. They shared 47 years of marriage before his death on December 8, 2005.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Terri and husband Stan Oyler of Hutchinson and grandson Kyle (Jessica) Oyler of Wichita.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Viron and Charlotte Rucker; her husband, James Morris; and her brother Charles Rucker.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
