Barbara Helene Schneider, 90, died August 11, 2026, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab, Newton. She was born October 21, 1935, in Goodland, to Clyde and Bessie (Clonch) Shantz.
Barbara graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg. She was very artistic, and enjoyed painting, decorating, and making flower arrangements. Barbara appreciated classical music and playing the piano. Her most passionate hobby though was collecting tea sets from all over the world. Barbara’s dream was to have a tearoom. She was able to fulfil her dream by setting up the basement in her home for tea parties and to display her enormous tea sets. Barbara also gave talks to organizations about her tea sets.
On July 25, 1953, she married Merlin R. “Bud” Schneider, in Phillipsburg. He died December 18, 2021, after they shared 68 years of marriage.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Jeannie Allmon (Dave) of Abilene, Patty Campbell of Nickerson, and Anita Willis (Jim) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Melissa Collins, Laura Rohrer (Fred), Amy Rhea (Jack), Ben Brandt (Miranda), Josh Allmon, Ryan Willis, Daniel Willis (fiancée Taylor), and Luke Willis; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Merlin; sister, Lois Ehm; granddaughter, Charlotte Allmon; son-in-law, John Campbell; and grandson-in-law, Matt Collins.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
