Barbara Elaine Strong, 76, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, surrounded by her family.  She fought through the end stage of lung cancer during her final months with great strength and dignity.

Barbara was born April 6, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Lloyd Orien Dove and Lorene G. (Claypool) Dove.  She attended Hutchinson High School and was a homemaker.

On October 20, 1962, she married James 'Jim' Allen Strong, in Hutchinson.  They shared over 58 years of marriage, until his death on November 26, 2020.

Barbara's life was devoted to her husband, four children, faith, and beloved cats.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening with her family.  After her children were grown, Barbara enjoyed reading books with one of the cats sitting on her lap.

Barbara is survived by:  her children, Christine (Nick) Hutchison of Hutchinson, James (Mary) Strong of Hutchinson, Kelley Miller of Burrton, and April Strong of Hutchinson; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Darrell Dove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; brother, Larry Dove; and sister, Joann Cooper.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary.
