Barton Gael "Bart" Zody, 60, died November 9, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born November 16, 1961, in Tulsa, OK, and adopted by Dean and Barbara (Brader) Wood.  Bart grew up in Wichita before moving to Hutchinson when he was in the fifth grade.  After Dean's death, Barbara married Keith Zody, and was adopted by Keith.

Bart graduated from Buhler High School in 1980.  After serving in the United States Air Force for four years, he pursued his love of cooking and became a chef.  Bart was an amazing cook.  In addition, he was intelligent (always working crossword puzzles), obsessed with listening to music, and an astounding photographer.  Bart was a collector of various items, from bears to German beers, and loved to travel to the mountains.     He was a devoted son, always putting his mother, Barbara, ahead of himself and making sure her needs were met.

Bart is survived by:  his mother, Barbara Zody of Hutchinson; siblings, Melody Henson, Todd Zody (Carly) of Denver, CO, and DeNene Thompson (Ben) of Hutchinson; nieces, Alia Collingwood and Hannah Zody; nephew, Matthew Collingwood; great-nephews, Lucas and Noah Gray; his former wife, Jane Zody; and his beloved cat, Smokey.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Dean Wood and Keith Zody.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.  Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the family to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
