Almanza
August 16, 1929 – March 13, 2022
Beatrice Almanza, 92, died March 13, 2022, at her home. She was born August 16, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Tiofilo Concepcion "TC" and Lucia (Hernandez) Martinez.
Beatrice was a lifelong Hutchinson resident. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and reading. Beatrice was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, serving as sacristan for many years. She was also a member of the Altar Society. During the Kansas State Fair, Beatrice enjoyed coordinating the volunteer schedule for the church's food booths.
On June 11, 1949, she married Jesse Almanza, in Hutchinson. He died March 31, 2012, after they shared almost 63 years of marriage.
Beatrice is survived by: sons, Nick Almanza of Kansas City, MO, Edward Almanza, Vincent Almanza (Mavis) of Hutchinson, and Ernie Almanza of Wichita; daughters, Mary Nichols and Ramona Almanza, both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Joseph Martinez, Concho Martinez, Raymond Martinez, Mary Augusto, Eleanor Navarro, and Jessie Viegra; infant son, Jessie, Jr. and great-granddaughter, McKenzie Almanza.
Parish Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the church, with Father Eric M. Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m. Wednesday, and 9:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends following the rosary.
