Bebe Jo Vannoy Bass Dowd, 80, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Blackwell, Okla., the daughter of Harry C. and Verna (Parcher) Moore.
She was a graduate of Braman High School, Oklahoma, and Southwestern College of Winfield. Bebe was an avid quilter and seamstress, and a junior high school language arts teacher for over 30 years, retiring in 1994 from North Reno School.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, Ray Dowd. Other survivors include: children, Pam Swanson (Roy), Kim Haugsness (John); brother, Max Moore (Carolyn); niece, Cindy Moore, all of Enid, Okla.; five grandchildren, Jamie Schultz (Heidi), Jennifer Harvey (John), Stephanie Hogan (Josh), Sarah Helm, Abby Powell; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents and two sons, David G. and Troy Allen Vannoy.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
