HAVEN – Ben Graber Jr., 85, died Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was born June 29, 1929, in Pretty Prairie, the son of Ben Sr. and Martha (Schwartz) Graber.
He was a 1945 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School, a member of Countryside Baptist Church, a farmer/stockman and a businessman and salesman in many areas of business. He also had managed Anthony's Clothing Store for several years. Ben loved singing all of his life, singing with Calvary Echoes Quartet and several other Mennonite men's quartets.
On Dec. 11, 1949, he married Carol Ann Wineinger at Tribune. She survives. Other survivors include: their sons, Steven W. (Melanie) of Manhattan, Kan., Gary L. (Elaine) of Houston, Texas, Wade C. (Peggy) of El Dorado; three brothers, Harland of Garden City, Robert (Norma) of Decatur, Alabama, Dean of Kingman, Ariz.; a sister, Katherine (Don) Stinson of Kimberling City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Eryn (Jeff) Smith, Gretchen (Jon) McGraw, Sara (Dante) Robinson, James (Ashleigh) Graber, Monika Graber, Andrew Graber, Joshua Graber, Evan and Megan Graber; two step grandchildren, Kelly (Kent) Kotzur, Travis (Kristian) Fitzgerald; eight great-grandchildren, Micah, Addie and Canaan Smith, Lawson and Leighton McGraw, Jillian and Pacey Robinson, Davis Graber; three step great-grandchildren, Morgan and Meghan Kotzur, and Jackson Fitzgerald.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Bernadette Graber; and two sisters, Helen Kaufman and Leona Gehring.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Countryside Baptist Church, 819 West 30th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will be at 11 a.m. (MST) Friday, March 13, 2015, in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
