Obituary

Benjamin 'Ben' Agoitia, Sr., passed away December 22, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson, KS.  He was born October 6, 1930, in Reno County, KS, to Calixto Agoitia and Delfina (Cordova) Agoitia.

He married Wanda Anzo on June 30, 1952, they would later divorce. They had three children, Debbie, Gary, and Benjamin Jr. His tireless love and devotion were evident in his last moments.

Ben was a master machinist. He loved working with his hands on anything mechanical, especially on the lathe. There was nothing he could not build or fix. Ben loved music, from Mexican to Big Band, like Glen Miller.

Ben is survived by: his children, Debbie Chattam of Winfield, KS, Gary (Donna) Agoitia of Hutchinson, KS, and Bennie (Heather) Agoitia of Hutchinson, KS; brother, Jerry Agoitia of San Antonio, TX; sister, Delores (Dean) Hachenberger of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Maria (Alex Espinoza) Chattam, Mariah (Ian Schmidt) Agoitia, Lucas (Karrah) Bishop, Tyler (Madison) Bishop, Lacy Lane, Brittany Agoitia, Victoria Agoitia, Cameron Agoitia, and Amber Agoitia; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Ed Agoitia and Albert Agoitia; and sisters, Frances Rangel, Rhoda Rhoten, and Virginia Almanza.

Memorial service will be 10 am Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
