Obituary

Bernadine Elizabeth "Bernie" Stephens, 80, died Oct. 18, 2005, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Hamilton, Ill., the daughter of Floyd Henry and Olive Darling Simon. She graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Ill. A resident of Hutchinson since 1976, moving from Jackson, Mo., she was a homemaker, a baker for Risley's IGA and an Avon Representative.

She belonged to Faith United Methodist Church.

On May 7, 1945, she married John W. Stephens at Chicago. He survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Gary, Chesapeake, Va., Craig, Warsaw, Ill., and Mark, Hutchinson; a sister, Alice Mae Thomas, Donnellson, Iowa; and a grandson, John R. Stephens, Chesapeake, Va.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Brent Clayton presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.
