Bernadine 'Bernie' M. Stroberg, 96, of Hutchinson, died November 4, 2019, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born February 14, 1923, in Brookings, OR, to James and Josephine (Forge) Duffin. In 1927, the family moved to Reno County.
Bernadine was a 1941 graduate of St. Teresa High School, Hutchinson. She was employed on the assembly line at Cessna Aircraft Company during World War II. Bernadine was actively involved in farming with her husband, Dean, and as an owner/operator of the family-owned business of Stroberg Equipment Co., Inc., from 1954 until her retirement in 2018. She was a dedicated worker, but her most rewarding job-title was mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bernadine's family and their activities were the center of her world. She was a charter member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.
On March 6, 1943, Bernadine married Dean Stroberg at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson. They shared over 54 years of marriage until his death on June 28, 1997.
She is survived by: daughter, Jeanette Klosterman of Hutchinson; sons, Roger (Rita) Stroberg and David (Susan) Stroberg, all of Hutchinson; brother, Bill Duffin of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Matt (Shaila) Klosterman of Celina, TX, Andrea (Scott) Kitch of Manhattan, Scott (Gretchen) Stroberg of Hutchinson, and Amy (Cody) Rine of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Luke, and Easton Klosterman, Lewis Stroberg, Kinley Kitch, and a great-granddaughter due very soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernadine was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Dean Stroberg; brothers, Raymond, George, and Robert Duffin; sisters, Kay Blankenship, Edith Jones, Dorothy Thede, and Betty Rothweiler; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Stroberg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4 th , Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross or to the donor's choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
