Bernice J. (Galliart) Duryee, formerly of WaKeeney, passed away January 7, 2018, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.  She was born October 25, 1922, near Claflin, to Frederick and Rosa (Miller) Galliart.  Bernice spent her early childhood in the Claflin farming community, before moving to Dorrance, before graduating from Dorrance High School in 1940.

On April 12, 1946, she married LaVern  Duryee in Dorrance.  They were married for 38 years, until his death February 26, 1984.

Bernice was homemaker for the family, and an avid gardener, with a love for all types of flowers. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, WaKeeney.

Bernice is survived by:  sons, Don Duryee (Carla) of Overland Park, Wayne Duryee (Verla) of McMinnville, OR; daughter, Diana Duryee, Hutchinson; grandsons, Tracy Duryee (Chrissy), Daniel Duryee (Jen); great-grandchildren, Amelia, Jonah, and Louisa Duryee; sisters, Karen Lovellette (Lon) and Rita Showalter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Adaline Charvat and Alice Borell.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018,  at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 610 24 ^th Street, Wilson, with Pastor Delvin Strecker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dorrance City Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Immanuel Lutheran Church, WaKeeney, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
