Obituary

Bernice B. Salmon, 90, entered heaven's gates on July 11, 2015, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Kingman, to Philip and Emma (Schroeder) Kaufman.

She was the regional manager for House of Fabrics, in Hutchinson, for many years. Bernice was a faithful member of First Baptist Church.

On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Gerald R. Salmon in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 25, 2004. Survivors include: daughters, Becky Rich and husband Dan, Bev Wright, Donna Salmon and fiance' Chuck Warders, all of Hutchinson, Marsha Maatta and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sherri Parrish and husband Dan of Flower Mound, Texas; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Elder, Kingman; and a brother, Phil Kaufman of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Timothy Maatta; and eight siblings.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Alden Dick presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Her family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
