Obituary

Bertrice Ann Oberg, 97, died Nov. 8, 2007, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood.

She was born Aug. 30, 1910, in Minneola, the daughter of Thomas Maughlin and Lenora Blanche Wilson Beard. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1928, and from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. A resident of Holyrood, formerly of Partridge, she was a registered nurse working as an operating room supervisor at Grace Hospital, where she also taught operating room technologists and nurse's aides.

She belonged to Partridge Community Church, was a 4-H Leader, editor of the Partridge Community Church Messenger, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Bank and the American Cancer Society.

On Nov. 24, 1938, she married Leslie Walfred Oberg in Stafford. He died March 9, 1976.

Survivors include: three daughters, Judith Fritzemeier, Partridge, Jeanne Sugden, Sterling, Neb., and Janice Schlessiger, Claflin; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Beard and Clyde Beard, and three sisters, Ruth Chesley, Helen Hornbaker and Doris Beard.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor John Sharp presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be sent to Partridge Community Church, the American Cancer Society, or Kans for Kids of Barton County, all in care of the funeral home.
