Bessie Lou Colvard, 85, of Hutchinson, died September 18, 2021, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. She was born September 2, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Charles "Harvey" and Edna (Sartain) Voss.

Bessie was retired from Hutchinson Hospital, where she worked in patient accounts. She loved to quilt, embroider, and bake cookies. She also collected Precious Moments and Cherished Teddies. Bessie was a member of Bethany Nazarene Church, Hutchinson.

On December 31, 1951, she married Edwend Leroy "Ed" Colvard, in Sterling. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage, before he passed away on July 30, 2021.

She is survived by: children, Meryl Colvard (Evelyn) of Pretty Prairie, Cameron Colvard (Jana) of Augusta, Cindy Teter (Les) of Buhler; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Bessie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Ed Colvard; sister, Helen Voss; brother, Cameron Voss; sisters, Lona Edwards, and Ada Whitney.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, with Pastor Jason Avery officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bethany Nazarene Church (to benefit children going to camp), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
