Obituary

Bethene A. Rimmer, 89, died Aug. 13, 2011, at Thorne Care Center at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.

She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Waterbury, Neb., to Daniel Webster and Hazel Fern Rogers Stewart.

She was a longtime Kansas City resident, moving to Hutchinson in 1985 from Bella Vista, Arkansas. She was a retired teacher with the Kansas City, Mo. public school system. She was a member of First Baptist Church, PEO Chapter BL, Alpha Delta Kappa Professional Educators Sorority, Christians Women's Club and the former Women's Civic Center.
On Jan. 31, 1945, she married James W. Myers in San Antonio, Texas. He died Nov. 5, 1999.

On Dec. 13, 2001, she married John Rimmer in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 29, 2011.

Survivors include: a daughter, Jane Harrison and husband Mike, Nickerson; grandchildren, Mark Harrison and wife, Alison, Chantilly, Va., and Laura Smith and husband Brandon, Westwood, Kan.; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ret. Judge Lee Stewart, Long Beach, Calif.; and a sister, June Roe and husband, Bob, Spokane, Wash. She is also survived by John's children: Janie Hart, Hutchinson, John R. Rimmer, Jr., Wichita, and Ann McPherson and husband John, of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Janie's husband Densmore Hart.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Tyler Vance officiating. Friends may sign the book Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. A private family graveside will follow the funeral service. Family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Memorials may be sent to Hutchinson Public Library Children's Department or the First Baptist Church, in care of the mortuary.
