Obituary

Betty Elaine Baker, 96, of Hutchinson, died November 27, 2018, at Waldron Place, Hutchinson. She was born May 15, 1922, in Matfield Green, the youngest daughter of Clyde L. and Lula Underwood.

On February 14, 1943, Betty married D. Travis Baker. He died in 1987.

Betty received her education at a college in the San Fernando Valley and was a retired kindergarten teacher in a private school in Encino, CA. While living in Durango, CO, she became an accomplished artist in oils. After living in Nebraska, California, Colorado, Arizona, Washington, and Arkansas, Betty returned to Kansas in 1982. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church, Hutchinson.

She is survived by: son, Tom Baker (Kathy), Coquille, OR; granddaughter, Sharon Baker; and friend, Judi Webster, Hutchinson. Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Mike; sisters, Frieda Maner and Vera Hursh; and brother, Arnold Underwood.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, at Waldron Place, 1700 E. 23rd Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Wayne Pittman officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018,in Matfield Green Cemetery.
