Betty Jo "BJ" Luman Schmickle, 60, died June 14, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Oct. 20, 1949, in Hutchinson, to Robert Eugene Luman and Clara Cathrine Nusser-Luman.

She was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1967 and Hutchinson Community College in 1991. She retired from Hutchinson Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk. She attended Grace Bible Church. She was a member of RHIT at Hutchinson Hospital.

On Aug. 14, 1999, she married Joseph H. Schmickle in Hutchinson. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Robert Miller, Maize; daughter, Rene Zahn (Stacy), Eudora; stepdaughters, Angela Fritz (Bob), Wichita, Stacie Toupal (Brett), Rowlett, Texas, and Anna Rollings, Wichita; brothers, Mike Luman (Terry), Nickerson, Steven Luman (Barbara), Hutchinson, and David Luman (Debbie), Lawrence; a sister, Ronda Bigger (Jim), Alamorgodo, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Rick Goertzen officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Arthritis Foundation, Hospice of Reno County or the Salvation Army, in care of the mortuary.
