Obituary

Betty Louise Burnett, 88, passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2016, at Thorne Care Center at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Eureka, to Herbert Edward and Nola Louise (Baumgartner) Beal Schrader.

Betty was a loving wife to Walt, whom she married Sept. 12, 1948, in Hutchinson. He passed away Oct. 7, 2013. They shared 65 years of marriage together.

Betty was a remarkable mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and loved bowling with her family. She loved to listen to John Gary, her favorite musician, and she filled the home with his music every day. Betty worked as a bookkeeper at Morton Salt Credit Union for many years and was a homemaker.

Betty lived at Dillon Living Center for many years, and just moved to Thorne Care Center less than a month ago. Her caregivers have been so wonderful; she received excellent care in her elder years by so many loving nurses and aides from both homes. One of the beautiful friendships she made was with Janet Stroberg. Betty met Janet at her first salon back in 1977. They became great friends over the past 39 years. Janet has done Betty's hair since then and each week for the past eight years at Dillon Living Center. Their friendship was so special. Janet made Betty feel beautiful inside and out. They had a treasured friendship and it was a blessing in both of their lives. Also, Hospice of Reno County provided Betty with excellent end-of-life care, to allow her to pass with dignity and grace. The family has so much appreciation, respect and gratitude for everyone that loved and took care of her. They thank you from the bottom of their hearts. So deeply loved and greatly appreciated, her family and friends miss her, and are so thankful for the many blessings Betty brought to our lives.

Survivors include: two children, Curt Burnett (Evelyn) of Wichita, Janine Tips (Jack) of Austin, Texas; siblings, Beverly LaClair, Harlan Beal (Judy) and Max Schrader (Bobby), all of Hutchinson, Herbert Beal Jr. (Celia) of Roseburg, Ore., Phil Schrader (Timi) of El Paso, Texas; and sister-in-law, Frances Burnett of Arlington; five grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Burnett of Wichita, Matthew Burnett of Rogers, Ark., Ryan and Jessica Johnson of Austin, Texas; a great-grandchild, Sienna Burnett of Rogers, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
