Betty Jean Charter's Obituary
Betty Jean Charter, 80, died April 12, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born July 21, 1928, in Cement, Okla., the daughter of Pete and Anna Smith Cleveland. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
On Dec. 4, 1948, she married John Prentice Charter in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 2, 1982. Survivors include: special friend and companion, Robert "Red" Hoffman, Hutchinson; two sons, Larry Blair and wife April, Geneseo, and Stephen Blair, California; four daughters, Sharon Hovious and husband Jim, Debbie Wolcott, Janis Charter, and Susan Flores and husband Greg, all of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary Ann Charter, a sister, Carol Beshears, and two brothers, Jerry and Ronald Childs.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Brian Nelson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice House, in care of the mortuary.
