Obituary

Betty Jean Cook, 86, died Sept. 20, 2010, at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in Wichita, as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident in Hutchinson.

She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Winifred Ray and Ada Mariah Jones Ford.

She graduated from Buhler High School. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.

On Jan. 29, 1942, she married Joseph Cook in Wichita. He died April 23, 2000.

Survivors include: four daughters, Betty Jo Hipp and husband Fred, Newville, Pa., Nancy Brooks and husband John, Tuttle, Okla., Carolyn Means and husband Tim, Wichita, and Sue Alkire, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Ralph, Bob, Leo,Lloyd, Harold & Bill Ford and 3 sisters, Mary Siebert, Eleanora Moore and an infant sister Dixie Ford.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jane Siebert presiding. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
