Obituary

Betty Leah Fenton, aged 94, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born December 18, 1931, in Alton, KS, to Thomas and Nettie (Gregory) Hale.

In 1949, Betty graduated from Alton High School. She worked at Arrow Machine as a bookkeeper for 24 years and as a church secretary at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for 27 years.

Betty remained an active member of the church and devoted her time to it. She was also a member of Reno County 4-H Fairboard, Reno County 4-H Foundation, and a club leader for 4-H.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed watching the KC Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was also an avid reader and baker, and a lover of Cardinal birds and anything red.

Betty is survived by: her children, Duane (Deb) Fenton of Hutchinson, KS, Lindy (David) Lemen of Haven, KS, and Sean (Burma) Fenton of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Jennifer (Trey) Cocking, and Katie Fenton; great- grandchildren, Jory Cocking, Will Cocking, and Rivers Slifer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Francis Brent, Peggy Palmer, Patsy Ballard, and Carrie Fry and brother, Tim Hale.

To honor Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will take place. A private family inurnment will take place in Alton, KS. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Reno County 4-H Foundation/ Betty Fenton Scholarship, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
