Betty J. Garber, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. She was born May 15, 1930, at Oxford, the daughter of William McKinley and Lulabell Rue Lewis.
She was a 1947 graduate of Hutchinson High School and was a social worker for the elderly at SRS.
On Feb. 17, 1961, she married Dale E. Garber in Newton. He died Dec. 10, 2007. Her first husband, Marion Cruth, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cindy Armstrong of Hutchinson, Linda and Robert Ashcraft of Goddard; a sister, Mary Lou Anderson of Lindsborg; five grandchildren, Travis Armstrong, Amy and Max Stafford, Angie and Eric Labbe, Robin Ashcraft, Ross and Caylee Ashcraft; 11 great-grandchildren, Brandy Wilson, Nathan Armstrong, Matthew, Amy Jeane, Abby, Tannin and Ashley Stafford, Drew and Madison Labbe, Jordan Ashcraft and Lizzie Ashcraft. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela and Nancy Garber, and a brother, Leo Lewis.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
