Obituary

Betty Jeane Hodges, 91, died April 29, 2014, at Hospice House. She was born July 26, 1922, in Hutchinson, to Willard and Frances Mangold Snyder.

She married Benny Riley Hodges on Oct. 29, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kan. He died Feb. 9, 2004. Betty was a homemaker, mother and worked as a lunch counter manager for F. W. Woolworth and then later, as a bus driver for USD 313, retiring after 15 years. Survivors include: daughters, Susan Hill of Hutchinson, Jacolyn Wood and husband Roger of Wichita; sons, Jimmy Hodges and wife Linda of Nashville, Tenn., Donald Hodges and wife Amy of Brush, Colo., Jerry Hodges and wife Cheslea of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Benny Ross Hodges; sister, Flora Lee Gibbons; and a brother, Joe W. Snyder.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Park Place Christian Church or Hospice and Home Care of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
