Betty Joan Burnett, 89, of Hutchinson, died September 7, 2026, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born December 25, 1936, in Wichita, to Lynn Albert and Lucille Marie (Parnell) Bunge.

At a young age Betty moved to Long Beach, CA, where her dad was stationed in the U.S. Navy. The family later moved to Winnemucca, NV, and then to Hutchinson in 1949. Betty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954. She was an agent for Kansas Farmers Service Association for 34 years until her retirement in 1998. Betty was an avid reader, always surrounded by stacks of books, and volunteered at Friends of Hutchinson Public Library. She enjoyed sewing and made her own clothing for many years. Betty also enjoyed crocheting rugs to give away to family and friends. She was a cat lover and cared for many felines over the years.

On August 18, 1962, Betty married Bobby Joe Burnett, in Hutchinson. They shared over 61 years of marriage before his death on April 4, 2024.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Robbins; grandson, Austin Robbins and fiancé, Kylie Lohrentz; great-grandson, Brantley Robbins; sisters-in-law, Betty Fehdrau and Deana Burnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son; and brothers-in-law, Allen R. Burnett, Vernon C. Burnett Jr., and Stanley Fehdrau.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Wedel officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
