Betty J. Joyner, 83, died Oct. 5, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital ICU.
She was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Leo David and Laree Ellen Duley Ferron. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she had lived in Tulsa, Okla. from 1972 to 1988. She was a homemaker and administrative assistant for the Tulsa public school systems.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
On Jan. 20, 1946, she married Carl Porter Joyner in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 20, 1978.
Survivors include: a son, Brad Joyner and wife, Jennifer, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Cordelia Brandon, Oklahoma City; a step-granddaughter, Erin Walsh, New York City; several nephews and nieces; great-nephews and nieces; and great-great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Lackey and Barbara Ferron.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
